BARCO Twin Productions
BARCO is a Stockholm-based platform created by Dinis Machado for the production of his choreographic work as well as producing contexts for the work of other dance and performance artists. BARCO is built from a critical perspective towards the traditional idea of the artist as an isolated genius. Instead, BARCO is a platform that invests in the production of collaboration, exchange, and togetherness between artists. BARCO unveils relations and maps a possible community through the development of shared practices in pre-defined and alternative contexts.
BARCO TWIN PRODUCTIONS consists of the parallel development of the solo works CONSUBSTANCIATION by Dinis Machado and MIRAGE by Caroline Byström.
Caroline and Dinis met during the MA at DOCH. These two productions where created within a program of mutual residencies being both choreographers in the same residency centres at the same time working on both works and investigating a mutual dialogue, accompaniment and a bidirectional mentorship.
Barco Twin Productions constitutes as a travelling community where the choreographers become continuous critical interlocutors of each other, answering to the contemporary profile of travelling international artists, and the consequent difficulty to engage daily in the local scene of where they are based. The continuity of the accompaniment here proposed allows a deeper insight and dialogue between this choreographers while they travel through the usual ephemeral context of short-term residencies.
Therefore BARCO Twin Productions proposes an alternative Artist collaboration where the artists work side by side instead of working for the production of one only work. Instead of working for the construction of an aesthetic agreement and consequent production of a single work, the two choreographers used each other here in a dialectic way to think and define each other in relation to the other. To get to know their meeting points but also to map and learn about their different methodologies, perspectives, pathways and possibilities.
