 a och exakta.\n\nThe White Chapel är ett verk om att tillhöra en form oc
 h ändå inte känna sig hemma i den. Den utgår från en kropp som histor
 iskt och samtida är lätt att läsa. Den utbildade\, vältränade manliga
  kroppen. Den upplysta människan\, den produktiva medborgaren\, den algor
 itmiskt läsbara individen – alla har lämnat spår i samma form.\n\nThe
  White Chapel har sitt ursprung i London på 1990-talet\, där marknaden t
 rängde allt längre in i kulturen. Bilden blev allt mer värdebärande. D
 en ekonomiska expansionen förändrade både staden och människans sätt 
 att presentera sig själv. Någonting öppnades. Någonting förlorades.\n
 \nThe White Chapel handlar inte om att återvända till en stark kropp ell
 er en stark själ. Snarare om att återvända till en levd kropp och en le
 vd själ: märkta av erfarenhet\, motsägelser\, misslyckanden\, begär oc
 h minnen. Till det som finns kvar när representationen inte längre räck
 er.\n\nI The White Chapel blir rörelsen ett sätt att pröva detta på ny
 tt. Pröva möjligheten att befinna sig i en kropp innan den blir bild.\n\
 n\n\nJohan Kärrman\nutbildades vid Central Saint Martins School of Art an
 d Design i London i början av 1990-talet. Sedan dess har hans arbete rör
 t sig mellan konstnärliga och kommersiella sammanhang. Ett medvetet spret
 igt sökande har fört honom genom skilda praktiker\, sammanhang och visue
 lla språk. Återkommande har intresset kretsat kring bildning\, estetik\,
  teknologi\, kropp och makt och människans behov av att både särskilja 
 sig och tillhöra.\n\n\n\nIn a world colonised by images\, movement and da
 nce may yet attempt to escape them\, to turn instead towards the tactile\,
  the sensuous\, the fragile and the exact.\n\nThe White Chapel is a work a
 bout inhabiting a form and still not feeling at home within it. It begins 
 with a body that history has long known how to read and the present still 
 does: the educated\, well-trained male body. The man of the Enlightenment\
 , the productive citizen\, the algorithmically legible individual – all 
 have left their marks in the same form.\n\nThe White Chapel has its origin
 s in London in the 1990s\, as the market pressed ever further into culture
 . Value increasingly came to reside in the image. Economic expansion alter
 ed both the city and the ways in which people presented themselves. Someth
 ing opened. Something was lost.\n\nThe White Chapel is not a return to a s
 trong body or a strong soul. It turns instead towards a lived body and a l
 ived soul: marked by experience\, contradiction\, failure\, desire and mem
 ory. Towards what remains when representation is no longer enough.\n\nIn T
 he White Chapel\, movement becomes a way of testing this again. Of testing
  whether it is possible to inhabit a body before it is turned into an imag
 e.\n\n\n\nJohan Kärrman\nstudied at Central Saint Martins School of Art a
 nd Design in London in the early 1990s. Since then\, his work has moved be
 tween artistic and commercial contexts. A deliberately wayward search has 
 led him through disparate practices\, settings and visual languages.\nHis 
 recurring concerns include intellectual formation\, aesthetics\, technolog
 y\, the body and power and the human need both to distinguish oneself and
