Genom en undersökning av geologiska (transformativa) processer, stenens materialitet och svindlande tidsförlopp, närmar sig Anna Pehrsson människokroppens förmåga att skapa förändring i sitt nya verk Excavation Series I and II.

I Excavation Series I and II står rörelsen i fokus. Anna Pehrsson skalar av för att få syn på varifrån rörelsen kommer, vad som genererar den och hur den fortplantar sig i kropp och rum.

Excavation Series I and II organiserar rörelsen som en multidirektionell massa – på samma gång en het flytande sten som lurar runt hörnet – en kometsvans som spränger genom himlen – och ett tunt lager av avdunstat vatten som når porerna. Ljus tunnas ut till mörker, kropp resonerar ljud, och malande blir sipprande, ett ljud av det som kallas existens.

Excavation Series I and II är den andra delen av ett arbete som hade premiär på Fylkingen förra året och som är planerad till flera delar och ett större verk för flera dansare.

ANNA PEHRSSON
född i Boliden, Sverige, är dansare, koreograf och konstnär verksam i skärningspunkten mellan dans, koreografi och bildkonst. Hon har dansat med bland annat Alias ​​Compagnie, Corpus/Kungliga Danska Balett och Cullbergbaletten och har sedan debuten som koreograf 2016 skapat ett brett utbud av verk för galleriet, den offentliga sfären, såväl som beställningsverk och forskningsprojekt.

Djupt integrerad i hennes kunskap om kropp och rörelse, utvidgar Pehrsson sitt arbete till andra medier som skrift, teckning, stenhuggning och glödgning. Hon debuterade som bildkonstnär 2021 på Tjörnedala konsthall Simrishamn, och fortsätter att ställa ut i samarbete med bland annat SEART, Stockholm.

Sedan 2021 organiserar och kurerar hon Danser för Bruket, ett platsspecifikt dansprojekt som utforskar rörelser och transformationer som materia i relation till de historiska platser som huserar den tidiga svenska järnindustrin. Pehrsson är associerad konstnärpå Weld, Stockholm och har en MFA i koreografi från DOCH och en postmaster ackreditering från KKH, Kungliga Konsthögskolan.

In Excavation Series I and II, the focus is on movement. Anna Pehrsson peels back the layers to reveal where movement comes from, what generates it and how it propagates in body and space.

Excavation Series I and II organizes movement as a multidirectional mass – at once a hot liquid rock lurking around the corner – a comet’s tail blasting through the skies – and a thin layer of evaporated water reaching the pores. Light thins out to darkness, body resonates sound, and grinding becomes seeping, a noise of that which is called existence

Excavation Series I and II is the second part of a work that premiered at Fylkingen last year and is planned for several parts and a larger work for several dancers.

ANNA PEHRSSON
born in Boliden, Sweden, is a dancer, choreographer and artist active in the intersection between dance, choreography and visual arts. She has danced with Alias ​​Compagnie, Corpus / Royal Danish Ballet, and Cullberg Ballet, among others and has since debut as a choreographer 2016, created a wide range of works for the gallery, the public sphere, as well as commissioned works and research projects.

Deeply integrated in her knowledge of body and movement, Pehrsson extends her work to other medias such as writing, drawing, stone carving and annealing. She debuted as a visual artist in 2021 at Tjörnedala Art Gallery Simrishamn, and continues to exhibit in collaboration with SEART, Stockholm amongst others.

Since 2021, she organizes and curates Dances for the Mill, a site specific dance project that explores movements and transformations as matter in relation to the historical sites housing the early Swedish iron industry. Pehrsson is an associate artist at Weld, Stockholm and holds an MFA in Choreography from DOCH and a postmaster accreditation from KKH, The Royal Institute of Art.
