Welcome to a work-in-process sharing of it utters shaped exhales (working title), by Korina Kordova. You are also invited to stay for an informal gathering after the performance.

it utters shaped exhales is a solo work emerging from the project (re)grounding, rooted in my experiences as a migrant dancing body. In (re)grounding, I investigate possibilities to experience grounding as belonging, through practices of connectivity and reciprocity between human body(s) and “the ground” as an expanded notion: a breathing entity, actual grounds and their traces, and imaginary grounds.

Between language and breath, memory and myth, movement archives and intrusive forces, the process takes bewilderment as a path: disorder of time and scale becoming monstrous. Touching the polarities of rock-solid and invisible matter, such as air and voice, I remember the ground as both local and hyperobject, I attune to its rhythms, gestures and desires. And I ask how relating to the commons can reveal the personal, the minute, and the forgotten within a singular body. Can my history become many, can my orbital cavities host other eyes, can I touch the incorporeal, can my throat reach deep into the ground?

Choreography and performance: Korina Kordova
Artistic advisor: Mateusz Szymanówka

The project had the residency support of Lokomotivet Eskilstuna / Mer dans åt folket / Danscentrum Stockholm, and Weld.

KORINA KORDOVA (BR/SE)
is a Brazilian dancer and choreographer based in Stockholm. Her practice unfolds between choreography, dance, and performance, and it meets the public through multimodal formats such as choreographic installations, dance performances, text, aural scores, and workshops. Drawing from feminist new materialisms and engaging decolonial aesthesis, she proposes artworks as sensuous encounters between human and more-than-human entities, tangible matter and the incorporeal. She investigates relationality and displacement through a decolonial gaze; spaces between memory and mythmaking, and presence as motion between distinct modes of attention. She holds a Masters in Performance Practices from ArtEZ University of the Arts (NL), and undertook an internship in the Master Program in Choreography at Stockholm University of the Arts (SE). She completed the Postmaster “Materialities; energies” at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
